"I take you to the bush" - with these word we were invited by Andrew King'homella, distric pastor of southern district of the ECD. This district ist the largest in the diocese and reaches 200 kilometer from Dar es Salaam. It is a so called mission area with some sub parishes, but growing evangelical life. So we had some stop over at new and smaller parishes. Five times we wrote a note in guest books and had friendly encounter.
"Ich bringe euch in den Busch" - mit diesen Worten lud uns Andrew King'homella, Superintendent des Süd-Districts der Ost-und Küstendiözese eben in diesen Distrikt ein. Es ist der größte District und reicht 200 Kilometer von Dar in den Süden, eben in den Busch. Sie nennen es Missionsgebiet, hier gibt es wenige Gemeinden, einige Sub-Gemeinden und viel wachsendes evangelisches Leben. Wir haben einige Zwischenstopps gemacht und uns fünfmal in Gästebücher in Gemeinden eingetragen und wurden stets freundlich empfangen.
Somewhere near Kibati we took a small road, a rough road for the next 100 kilometers all the way to Mloko. A small town in the bush. Surounded by beautiful nature and wilderness, it is also a busy place. Many trucks take this place as stop on their transport. On the first evening we even managed to see the football game of Borussia Dortmund in a small hut with the locals. What an experience. Not only because of the result!
Irgendow hinter Kibati sind wir abgebogen, auf eine "rough road", eine staubige unbefestigte Straße, 100 Kilometer bis Mloko. Der kleine Ortliegt mitten im Busch. Aber dort ist Leben, nicht zuletzt, weil die Trucker den Ort auf ihrem Weg als Übernachtungsort nutzen. Wir haben es ogar geschafft, das Spiel von Borussia Dortmund in einer Hütte mit der "Dorfjugend" zu gucken. Was für ein Erlebnis, nicht nur wegen des Ergebnisses.
On the next day Andrew took us to the bush. We visited the Nyere national park and he showed us the wildlife of Africa. It's hard to find the words for it. Lions and elephants nearby, cattles of buffalos, giraffes and zebras on the way. This country is so rich an beauty. These moments make all the effort worth and tell more about a country and his people than every telling can do. Thanks to the bush!
Am nächsten Tag brachte uns Andrew dann in seinen Busch. Wir besuchte den Nyere National Park und waren mitten in der Wildniss Afrikas. Das lässt sich kaum in Worte fassen. Löwen und Elefanten ganz nah am Jeep, Büffelherden, Giraffen, Zebras. Das Land ist so reich. Diese Momente machen all den Aufwand wett und erzählen mehr über ein Land, als jede andere Erzählung imstande ist. Thanks to the bush.
