I am happy to tell you that I found out when the horn is used. The impressive traffic I mentioned before. Additional very often the driver use their horn. Instead of using the indicator, as protest, as friendly request for pedestrians to cross the road or just for greeting: here I am.
Heute habe ich den nächsten Schritt erlebt und mich ohne Blechverpackung ins Getümmel gestürzt: auf nach Kariakoo, dem Handelsviertel. Mit Gastmama Anna und Gastcousine Neema stürzen wir uns ins Getümmel, wobei stürzen nicht der richtige Ausdruck ist. Eher gleiten wir mit einer Selbstverständlichkeit ins und durchs Chaos mit seinen ganz eigenen Regeln. "Hier bin ich".
Today I did the next step on the challenge to come through the chaos without any car damage. We went to Kariakoo, the main market place.With my host mama Anna and host cousine Neema we felt right in the middle of it, but, falling is not the right word. It was more a sliding in and through the chaos with its own rules. Here I am.
Anna ist dabei ein wunderbares Vorbild und schiebt sich unablässig und mit erstaunlicher Geschwindigkeit vorbei an Ständen für alles: Hausrat, Schuhe, Kleidung, Schmuck, Socken, Taschen, Stoffe, Essen, einfach alles. Alles eng, alles laut, alles in Bewegung und doch ein Riesenspaß!
Mit den beiden Frauen und meiner Tasche vor dem Bauch ist dieses überwältigende Getümmel ein Riesenspaß.
Anna is my role model, she pushes unstoppable and in astonishing speed along all the counters where you find everything. Houseware, shoes, clothes, jewelery, socks, bags, fabrics, food, simply everything. Loud, dense, everything in motion but also a big fun. With the two women and my belly bag it was real fun.
An jeder Kreuzung, Verengung der eh engen Wege geschieht das, was ich aus dem Auto heraus schon beobachtet habe- es geht einfach jeder weiter... Und wie ein Wunder- es funktioniert! Mit innerem Hupen vielleicht, aber auch einem sehr selbstverständlichen "hier bin ich".
At every crossing of lanes, at every narrowing of the already narrow paths it happened, what I watched before from the car. It just continues and it works, lika a miracle. With an inner honk perhaps, but also a very clear and naturaly: Here I am.
